What is behind Synaptic Four.
No outside initiative. No diversity campaign. A company built the way neurodivergent people think — by someone who knows that from personal experience.
Who is behind it
Synaptic Four is led by someone on the autism spectrum — bioinformatician and software developer based in Stuttgart. The company is not an experiment and not a side project. It is an attempt to show that this way of thinking — precise, pattern-recognising, unconventional — produces real software that solves real problems.
The products — Ferrum, BioResearch Assistant, HELIOS, NeuroAttune — did not come from a roadmap. They came from the need to build something that had to exist. That is the difference.
The concept
Synaptic Four is an instance of an idea: that neurodivergent thinking does not need to be compensated — but deployed. Not as a special feature, but as a method. People on the autism spectrum see patterns others miss, build systems others do not build, and ask questions others do not ask.
The PCMS research project makes this idea visible: cognitive differences not as deviation from a norm, but as positions on a map — equally valid, describable, useful.
Explore the cognitive map →Neurodivergence as a way of working
Synaptic Four works the way neurodivergent people think — precise, pattern-recognising, direct. That is not a metaphor. It is the concrete reason our software looks different and why we solve problems others have missed.
When you work with us, you work with someone who prefers clarity — in communication, in expectations, in results. No implicit "you know what I mean". No protocol that leaves no room. Direct, honest, at eye level.
More about autism and neurodivergence →AI as a tool — judgement stays with the human
We build with AI agents. This website, parts of the products, drafts — everything is built with AI support. That is not a limitation of quality. It is a proof: that AI agents can do complex things correctly, when someone with the right judgement is involved. Content responsibility and technical decisions stay with us.
What we are looking for
We are looking for a co-founder — someone who is themselves neurodivergent or identifies with that, loves the customer side, thinks strategically, and understands what is being built here. Not someone who sells. Someone who builds partnerships.
And we are looking for first partners — research teams or organisations that have a problem others have not solved, and who bring openness to a different way of working.
Open source & transparency
Parts of our work are public — MIT, Apache-2.0, BUSL-1.1. Not as marketing, but because traceability is a value. If you want to see how we work, you can read the code.
Open Source & RepositoriesNo sales conversation. You describe your situation, we say honestly whether and how we can help.
